As AWS’s General Manager for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Ryan Gavin works to solve some of the toughest challenges that hold back machine learning from being in the hands of every developer.
He oversees the marketing and strategy for the broadest and deepest set of machine learning and AI services in the industry including pre-trained AI services for computer vision, language, recommendations, and forecasting; Amazon SageMaker to quickly build, train, and deploy machine learning models at scale; and deep learning open-source frameworks.
The hallmarks of his 20-year career include shaping Microsoft’s multibillion-dollar Surface commercial strategy and leading that business to double-digit growth to bringing the world’s #2 search engine, Bing, to profitability with over 5 billion monthly searches. Ryan has had the opportunity to lead across a broad set of business, technology, and marketing challenges including responsibility for Microsoft’s consumer services portfolio with 600 million+ customers and with revenues in excess of $3 billion dollars.
