Statistical analysis of professional golf presents a unique set of challenges, and advantages, compared to other major professional sports. This presentation will walk through a predictive model of golf performance. Along the way, several detours will be taken into related topics such as: the (in)efficiency of golf betting markets and how much value this simple model can add to them; how to effectively visualize golf data on the web; and going beyond prediction to understand the determinants of golfer performance.
