Andrew Friedman

President of Baseball Operations, LA Dodgers

About

As the Dodgers’ President of Baseball Operations, Andrew Friedman has instilled a winning culture that has resulted in a division title in each of his six seasons, three National League pennants and the 2020 World Championship. Under Friedman’s leadership since 2015, the Dodgers lead MLB with a .606 winning percentage (528-343), including a franchise record 106 wins in 2019 and a club-best .717 winning percentage during the shortened 2020 season (43-17).

Entering his seventh season with the club after being named to the post on October 14, 2014, Friedman has overseen the development of one of baseball’s top-ranked farm systems, positioning the organization for the long-term success, and also reorganized and built out the team’s front office. Friedman was named Major League Baseball’s 2020 Executive of the Year and the Dodgers have twice (2017, ’20) been recognized by Baseball America as its Organization of the Year, honoring the team for its success from top to bottom.
Friedman previously served as Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations of the Tampa Bay Rays where, despite overseeing one of the league’s lowest payrolls, he led the Rays to four postseason appearances, including two division titles (2008, 2010), in nine seasons from 2006-14. During Friedman’s time in Tampa Bay, the Rays posted the franchise’s first winning season and won the American League pennant in 2008, when he was named Sporting News’ Executive of the Year. After finishing below .500 in each of their first 10 years of existence, the Rays finished above the .500 mark in six consecutive seasons under Friedman from 2008-13. Friedman joined the Rays in 2004 and spent two years serving as director of baseball development.

Prior to his career in baseball, Friedman was an analyst for two years with New York City-based investment firm Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc., and spent three years as an associate for the private equity firm MidMark Capital.
Friedman received a baseball scholarship to Tulane University, where he played outfield for the Green Wave and graduated with a bachelor of science in management with a concentration in finance.

Friedman and his wife, Robin, have two sons, Ethan and Zachary, and a daughter, Sadie.
