VP of Research and Information Systems, Monumental Sports & Entertainment
Dr. Katherine Evans is in her first year as Vice President of Research and Information Systems at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, supporting the NBA’s Wizards, WNBA’s Mystics, G-League’s Go-Go and 2K League’s Wizards District Gaming. Her Research Team provides analytical and platform support for many areas of basketball operations including the front office, scouting, coaching, medical, and player performance. Evans’s analytical work focuses primarily on the application of causal inference to sports statistics, as well as improving presentation and understandability of results. Previously she worked for Verily Life Sciences (an Alphabet company) before joining the Toronto Raptors as the Director of Strategic Research.
A native of the SF Bay area, Evans holds a PhD in Biostatistics from Harvard, an MA in Biostatistics from UC Berkeley, and a BA in Statistics from Harvard. Evans is an active advocate of increasing diversity in sports analytics, both in ideas and representation. A longtime proponent of sports analytics in academia, she recently received the American Statistical Association Section on Statistics in Sports 2022 Significant Contributor award.
In her free time, she enjoys go-karting, cycling, and trying to solve the traveling salesman problem on foot.
