About

Kirk Goldsberry is an NBA analyst at ESPN and the Executive Director of the Sports Business Institute at the University of Texas. He has formerly served as the lead analyst for Team USA Basketball, and as the Vice President of Strategic Research for the San Antonio Spurs. His expertise in basketball analytics focuses on spatial analyses and visual analytics. After receiving a Ph.D. in Geography from UC-Santa Barbara, he worked as a professor at Michigan State University and Harvard University. While at Harvard he published his first Sloan paper in 2012 which focused on visual and spatial analyses of shooting in the NBA. Since then, he has become a mainstay at the Sloan Conference and has built a decade-long career in and around the NBA, working as a writer at Grantland, a front office executive, and now as an NBA analyst at ESPN. He lives in Austin, Texas.
