Director of Sporting Analytics US Soccer Federation

About

Tyler Heaps is the Director of Sporting Analytics for U.S. Soccer Federation. His role sits at the cross-section between all Sporting departments, including the Men’s and Women’s National Teams, ensuring a consistent and cumulative application of video and data analysis across the federation. After playing soccer at Augsburg University and graduating with a degree in Mathematics/Computer Science, Tyler started his analytics career with a human resources firm before jumping to U.S. Soccer in 2016. He’s been a core member of the team that built out U.S. Soccer’s analytics operation, aiming to improve the decision-making process on both the commercial and sporting sides of the org. He now serves as the lead for both National Teams’ use of analytics and works closely with all technical staffs. Tyler was a part of the scouting and analytics staff that helped the USA win all seven games and the title at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. In addition to his current role, he has spent time coaching soccer collegiately and at the youth level within the Development Academy.
