In less than 2 months, “ChatGPT” has been used by more than 100 million people and is currently disrupting the tech landscape. Underpinning the technology are large language models (LLMs), which is an AI model learnt from an enormous amount of data. This begs the question – “can such technology be utilized in sport?” In this talk, we will discuss the technology, what it currently can do (and what it can’t do), and how the underlying technology will shape the future of sports data collection, and downstream analysis and predictions which will permeate all aspects of the sporting ecosystem.
