About

Dr. Felesia Stukes is an emerging leader in higher education and an assistant professor of Computer Science at Johnson C. Smith University. Often described as wise beyond her years, Dr. Stukes pairs wisdom with innovative thinking to create greater opportunities in computing for women and communities of color. Her research is focused on Computer Science (CS) education to find more effective approaches to bring computer science to a wider and more diverse audience. Her recent project was funded by the Department of Defense and titled, “Data Science Education and Sport: Equipping the DATA Bulls”. It was designed to increase participation in computing through data science education and research through sport. The project uniquely paired data science curriculum grounded in the real-world for practical use with applied research experiences using human performance, player tracking and sports team analytics equipment.
