President and Deputy Commissioner, Major League Soccer
As President and Deputy Commissioner, Mark oversees the League’s Competition, Medical, Communications, Player Relations, Operations, Legal and Finance departments. He also has responsibility for the League’s expansion strategy and transactions.
After practicing corporate law at Latham and Watkins, Mark joined MLS as its first employee in 1993 and was the architect of its original business plan. Since its launch in 1996, the League has grown from 10Clubs in 1996 to 28 in 2022 while average Club valuations have increased from$5 million to over $500 million.
He earned a law degree in1989from Berkeley Law School at the University of California, where he was the Managing Editor of the California Law Review, and is a 1986 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
